The atelier

We make clothes slowly, so you can keep them for a long time.

Every Halden piece is sampled in our studio before it is made. We cut, wear, wash and wear again, and only then do we order fabric.

That means fewer pieces each season, made in the quantities we expect to sell. What is left at the end of the season stays on sale until it is gone: we do not destroy stock.

01

Fewer, better fabrics

Wool, cashmere, linen, cotton and silk, bought from mills we visit. No blends chosen to cut a price.

02

Sampled, worn, washed

Every piece is worn and washed by the team for a season before it reaches the shop.

03

Made to be repaired

Spare buttons in every garment, leather that can be fed and resoled, and a repair counter in the store.

Care guide

Care for what you own

Wash less, air more, fold knits instead of hanging them. A short guide to making clothes last.

  • Wash less

Air knitwear and coats overnight instead of washing them. Spot clean marks as they happen.

  • Fold knits

Hanging stretches the shoulders. Fold sweaters and keep them in a drawer with cedar.

  • Cool and slow

Wash at 30°C or by hand, and dry flat away from the radiator.

  • Feed leather

A thin layer of balm twice a year keeps bags and shoes supple and stops them cracking.
